New fabrics average 75,000 cycles on the Martindale abrasion test, however this is only judged on friction break down and does not take into account the problem of acid erosion stemming from perspiration and hand soil, which without the application of our unique treatment is unavoidable. Acid erosion causes the fabric to break down, resulting in holes. Unfortunately you cannot detect the erosion of the fibres, and for this reason thousands of chairs are disposed of each year because they have been judged purely on their appearance.
